Photography is a conversation.
I see the photographic process as a collaborative workshop rather than a conventional photo session.
I usually begin with an idea — something I want to explore visually. I bring the concept and create the setting, lighting and framework, but the image is not fully defined before we begin. The collaborator's interpretation, movement and ideas become part of the process.
We start with a few test images and adjust both the technical setup and the way the idea is expressed. From there, we work in stages. Before and after each step, we look at what has happened, discuss what works and what could be changed, and decide together what to explore next.
After the session, I make a broad selection of images which we review together. I make the final artistic selection, but I will never use an image against the collaborator's wishes.
I am interested in working with people who are curious, open to experimentation and interested in developing an idea over time. Models, actors, dancers, performers and other creative people are welcome.
I am particularly interested in collaborations that can develop over time, allowing an idea — and the people involved — to evolve together.
